Sixth-rounders add depth and value to Packers roster

Round Six – FB Aaron Ripkowski, DL Christian Ringo, TE Kennard Backman – B

These three picks are fillers for the 2014 season. Ripkowski shows great promise in strength and power blocking, potentially landing him as John Kuhn‘s eventual successor.

Ringo and Backman will have uphill battles to keep their place on the roster, as both B.J. Raji and Letroy Guion were given “prove-it” deals and the Packers TE class is (while underwhelming at times) emerging.

However, providing competition at any position and keeping development flowing for all units is key to the consistency the Packers have been able to maintain.

It is always worth a pick.
