The Packers cut ties with former Alabama Punter Cody Mandell on Monday after signing him in late January. Mandell came into camp to challenge team veteran Tim Masthay for the starting job. Masthay now looks to start for the sixth season in a row for the Packers. It is odd that Mandell was released before the first preseason game, but a large part of that may have come from his place holding. It has been reported time and time again that kicker Mason Crosby struggled to get any sort of rhythm going with Mandell holding compared to Masthay.
