Coaches have preseason, too

The coaching renewal that has taken place in Green Bay – especially the fact that head coach Mike McCarthy will not be calling plays – will be on full display tonight.

According to packers.com, here is the full rundown of the changes the Packers made with their coaching staff this past winter:

The Green Bay Packers have named Tom Clements associate head coach/offense, Edgar Bennett offensive coordinator, Alex Van Pelt quarterbacks/wide receivers coach, Mike Solari assistant offensive line coach, Jerry Montgomery defensive front assistant, Ron Zook special teams coordinator and Jason Simmons assistant special teams coach.

What will be interesting – and something we probably won’t see tonight – but just what differences the play-calling will be with Tom Clements making the calls. And with Edgar Bennett as the offensive coordinator – what will that mean?

Not to mention the new role that head coach Mike McCarthy will be undertaking this season. Will the special teams benefit from his added guidance? That will certainly be something else to watch closely.

Tonight’s roster

Questionable: CB Damarious Randall (groin), CB Tay Glover-Wright (hamstring), S Sean Richardson (chest), CB Demetri Goodson (calf), LB Clay Matthews (knee), DE Mike Daniels (ankle), and DE Letroy Guion (hamstring) are questionable

Out: WR Adrian Coxson (concussion), WR Javess Blue (shoulder), OL Vince Kowalski (concussion) and WR Jared Abbrederis (concussion) are not expected to play.
