Green Bay Packers: Draft prospects to watch at 2016 NFL Scouting Combine
Wide receivers
The Packers lacked depth at wide receiver in 2015 after losing Jordy Nelson and Ty Montgomery to season-ending injuries. Despite both players coming back, it would make sense for the Packers to be active in the wide receiver market.
Corey Coleman, Baylor: Coleman is a speedy receiver and it will be interesting to see the time he posts in the 40-yard dash. Could be a dangerous deep threat for Aaron Rodgers. What’s exciting with Coleman’s game is his ability to get separation early, something the Packers needed.
Josh Doctson, TCU: One of my favorite wide receivers in this year’s class. Doctson is a big target who can go up and make contested catches. Separation is Doctson’s biggest challenge, but he can make up for it with his ability to go and get the ball.
De’Runnya Wilson, Mississippi State: An interesting prospect who could make some noise at the combine due to his size. At 6-foot-5, Wilson has the height to create mismatches and become a dangerous red zone target in the NFL.
Laquon Treadwell, Mississippi: Likely won’t be there when the Packers pick, but possibly the best receiver in the draft. Treadwell is a first round talent, and while the Packers might not want to take a wideout in the first round, it would be hard to pass up such a talent if he somehow fell to No. 27.
Charone Peake, Clemson: Stands at 6-foot-3 and has good speed, which will be on show at the combine. Holding him back is his health after suffering two knee injuries in college.
