Linebackers

Upgrading the inside linebacker position is a must for the Packers this offseason to allow Clay Matthews to move back to his natural spot outside. It’s possible Thompson will look at the outside linebackers too. Julius Peppers is almost certainly entering his final season, and pass rushers Nick Perry and Mike Neal are free agents.

Scooby Wright III, Arizona: Wright to the Packers makes a lot of sense. He’s expected to be taken on day two, and could help out right away at inside linebacker. Medical checks will be key for him at the combine after being plagued with injuries in 2015. If healthy, he’s an excellent run defender.

Reggie Ragland, Alabama: If this man is available at No. 27, Thompson should make the pick quicker than Brett Favre was selected for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Ragland would be a perfect fit for the Packers, but a good combine will likely solidify his stock as a high first round talent.

Darron Lee, Ohio State: Lee is a great athlete and would add speed to the defensive front. Considered slightly small for the position which could play a factor. How he performs at the combine will be interesting.

Tyler Matakevich, Temple: Size and speed hold Matakevich back, but he’s a smart player with a strong work ethic. A good combine performance could help his draft stock. Currently projected to be taken somewhere between Rounds 3-5.
