Green Bay Packers 2015 season grades: Offensive line
Josh Sitton
Like Lang, Josh Sitton is a vital piece to the interior of the Packers’ offensive line. And also like Lang, Sitton played through the season with a nagging injury. Sitton played every game for the Packers despite nursing a back injury, and only missed snaps at the end of blowout defeats to Denver and Arizona.
Sitton ranks sixth among guards by Pro Football Focus, third in pass protection. Sitton was charged with just 3.5 sacks and 15 pressures — the latter was the fewest among starting offensive linemen.
He never complains and is a true team player. In the NFC North decider with Minnesota, Sitton was asked to play out of position at left tackle. He did so, but as expected had a tough evening.
Sitton is set to hit free agency after the 2016 season. The Packers’ next move is critical. He’ll be 30 by the time he hits the market, so is likely out of range of another major payday. But with such consistent production year in year out, a team may be willing to spend more than the Packers can offer. It might be a smart move to enter negotiations this offseason to avoid that possibility.
