Green Bay Packers: Ten ways Packers can have perfect offseason
6. Re-sign Mason Crosby
Mason Crosby has to return to Green Bay. Top kickers are hard to find, but the Packers have one in Crosby.
Any kicker in the National Football League can lineup and kick a football through the uprights from 50 yards. When the pressure is off, they are all capable of doing so. But the best kickers aren’t necessarily the most gifted at physically kicking the ball, rather the ones who can handle the pressure at huge moments in a game.
Time and again, Crosby has proven this. He has converted his past 20 field goal attempts in the playoffs – an NFL record. Many of these have come with the Packers’ season on the line. Down by three points in the dying seconds of the NFC Championship Game in Seattle, Crosby stepped up and nailed his 48-yard attempt, despite facing windy and rainy conditions with the weight of Wisconsin on his shoulders.
After Jeff Janis hauled in the incredible Hail Mary in Arizona in the divisional round this past January, Crosby needed to convert from 33 yards to take the game to overtime. He did.
Crosby is an excellent kicker and a valuable part of the Packers’ roster. He needs to be brought back.
