Jerell Adams, South Carolina

Jerell Adams is an interesting tight end. The 6-foot-5, 247-pounder has the size and length to create nightmare mismatches downfield, but he lacks the polish of an early-round selection.

What’s encouraging about Adams is his combination of size and speed, and he also has good hands. Those three areas could make him a talented pass-catcher at the position. Adams can pluck the football out of the air and make tough catches, and his route running ability is good enough, although there’s still room for improvement.

Further improving his route running will be required at the next level and could help him take his game to the next level. He isn’t as good of an athlete as Hunter Henry and isn’t as talented a player, but the potential is there. Adams could give the receiving game a kick.

Adams has the potential as a blocker too, but the concern for Green Bay is that he might not be ready to fix the void on day one. It’s going to take a bit of time for him to reach his potential. If the Packers want a safer bet to help out right away, Henry is the better (and more expensive) option.
