This is the fifth of a seven-part series. We continue the Lombardi Ave Packers mock draft with the writers’ fifth-round selections.

You can find the previous selections here: Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, Round 4.

We’ve arrived deep into the Lombardi Ave roundtable mock draft with the fifth-round pick. By now, each writer has selected six new players to Green Bay with the two compensatory picks in the fourth. Now is the time to stock up on depth to the roster, and who knows, maybe one of these selections will go onto become a star player. It can happen.

Which direction will the Packers go in the fifth? How has GM Ted Thompson addressed the round in the past? Last year he traded up to grab quarterback Brett Hundley out of UCLA, and so far it looks like a smart move. Hundley has been promoted to Aaron Rodgers’ backup for 2016.

Two years ago the Packers landed center Corey Linsley and wide receiver Jared Abbrederis. How did that turn out? It just goes to show that starting caliber talent can be found later in the draft. Thompson has found these guys before.

Who will the writers pick in the fifth? Let’s begin.
