14. Mason Crosby (Freddie’s pick)

Good kickers aren’t fully appreciated until the team no longer has one. Well let’s change that and send some love to Mason Crosby, one of the unsung heroes on the Packers’ roster. The difference between a kicker who can handle pressure or not might be the difference between making the playoffs or sitting home, winning the Super Bowl or falling short.

Crosby helped the Packers to Super Bowl glory in 2010 and he’s been a consistent kicker ever since (2012 season aside). This past January, Crosby converted his 20th straight field goal attempt in the playoffs — an NFL record. Kicking in the playoffs is incredibly difficult as the pressure is intensified. Not for Crosby, who has had no trouble powering it through the sticks on a regular basis.

Crosby is the all-time leading points scorer in Green Bay, and is responsible for 1,145 points in his career. Deservedly, the Packers’ kicker was rewarded with a new contract this offseason making him the third highest paid at the position behind the Ravens’ Justin Tucker and the Patriots’ Stephen Gostkowski. It’s a well deserved reward for a player who was able to put aside his struggles in 2012 and bounce back in such strong fashion.

For his longevity and success in Packers News, Crosby is one of the best draft picks under Thompson, all the way back in 2007.
