Outside linebackers

Left outside linebacker: Clay Matthews, Kyler Fackrell, Jayrone Elliott

Right outside linebacker: Julius Peppers, Nick Perry

Mike Neal looks to be done in Green Bay and the Packers took to the draft to find a replacement in third-rounder Kyler Fackrell from Utah State. Fackrell is a versatile player who can rush the passer and also drop into coverage.

The biggest boost to the outside linebacker group is Clay Matthews’ expected return on a more full-time basis. Matthews has been playing predominantly inside for the past season-and-a-half, and while he will likely be used to rush the passer from the inside on occasion, his primary role will likely be to rush off the edge.

Julius Peppers posted 10.5 sacks last season but is expected to see his snap count reduce somewhat in order to keep him fresh for the duration of the season. The 36-year-old is entering the final year on his contract, and possibly the final chapter to a Hall of Fame career.

Datone Jones will also be included in this group, mixing up his time from defensive end and linebacker.

As a whole the unit looks in good shape and ready to build on a solid 2015 campaign.
