Right outside linebacker

Starter: Julius Peppers

This might be the final act in a Hall of Fame career, as Julius Peppers chases his first ring with the same passion he had as a rookie. Peppers continues to hold back the hands of time, and at 36-years-old will once again be a key component in the Packers defense.

It’s likely his snap count will reduce slightly as it did last season, with the aim to keep Peppers as fresh as possible for the playoffs. That’s where the depth at outside linebacker becomes so important.

But Peppers will still have a major role to play, a season removed from recording a team-high 10.5 sacks.

Backup: Nick Perry

This is a make-or-break season for Nick Perry, who was handed a one-year “prove it” deal in free agency. Perry has been plagued with injuries throughout his career, but arrives at training camp as healthy as he’s ever been.

We caught a glimpse of a healthy Perry in the postseason. In two games, he matched his regular season tally of 3.5 sacks, causing the Packers to take another look. If he can kick the injury bug once and for all and build on his strong playoff run, Perry will earn a long-term deal in Green Bay.
