Strong safety

Starter: Morgan Burnett

Like Sam Shields is at corner, Morgan Burnett is now one of the leaders of the secondary at safety, and his play backed it up in 2015. Burnett was once a lonely talent without a talented tag team partner at safety, but he now forms one of the league’s best tandems along with Ha Ha Clinton-Dix.

Burnett was outstanding in run defense last term, and his Pro Football Focus grade backed this up. He was ranked fourth among 89 graded safeties, falling just short of the ‘elite’ category. His strongest grade was in run defense, a 91.2 good enough to slot him into the ‘elite’ spot for that trait.

When healthy, the Packers have one of the best secondaries in the entire league. Burnett is a major reason why.

Backup: Chris Banjo

Chris Banjo’s best work comes on special teams, and for that reason alone he is a valuable asset to the roster. Banjo was named a playoff captain last season, and he’ll fill in for Burnett on defense should he go down.

Banjo is fourth on the depth chart for safeties, with the versatile Micah Hyde slotting in as the immediate backup. Banjo brings a wealth of experience each time he steps on the field.
