Jared Cook

Jared Cook wants to come back. The Packers want him back.

But so far, no deal. Welcome to the world of contract negotiations. Of all of the Packers’ free agents, this one feels like the safest bet. Cook’s best year of his career came in Green Bay, and playing with Aaron Rodgers is the best thing for him.

For the Packers, you only have to look at the impact he made when returning from injury in 2016 to understand his importance. It’s hardly surprising the Packers began to “run the table” shortly after Cook’s return.

Aaron Rodgers made it clear himself he wanted Cook back following the team’s NFC Championship loss in Atlanta. You have to imagine head coach Mike McCarthy feels the same, and that bodes well for the veteran tight end.

Whether it happens before March 9 or shortly after, expect Cook to return to Green Bay.

Prediction: Re-signs with the Packers
