Green Bay Packers fans have taken to Twitter to react to the second-round selection of safety Josh Jones out of N.C. State.
The Packers have used both of their second-round selections on defensive backs. First was Washington cornerback Kevin King, and now safety Josh Jones.
Not many saw this one coming, but there’s no doubting Jones’ talents. He’s a physical safety and should see the field immediately as a rookie. Whether he transitions to cornerback remains to be seen, but in all likelihood he’ll be a versatile piece like Micah Hyde was.
Let’s look at some of the top Tweets following the pick.
Are you pleased with the Josh Jones selection? #Packers #NFLDraft

As was the case after the King selection, fans are pleased with the Jones pick according to our poll.
A reach, now we gonna lose kamara.
— GBP (@Gbpsuperbowl) April 29, 2017
And lose Kamara the Packers did, who is heading to the Saints. There’s still a number of talented running backs on the board, however.
No, I thought #Packers should have gone offense, maybe RB. There's a lot of good DBs in this draft and they'll be around later. #GBPick
— Christopher Mertes (@CMertesSPStar) April 29, 2017
While this is true, there are also a number of talented running backs later in the draft. Ted Thompson is determined the fix the secondary.
They may do exactly that.
Hyde replacement?
— WI vs. 🌎 #attanasioOUT (@bopackbo) April 29, 2017
I'm good with it
— Scott (@scoot2414) April 29, 2017
A lot are asking this question. Doubt it means much for Morgan Burnett or Ha Ha Clinton-Dix. All three safeties can see the field at the same time, and Jones also offers good cover with Hyde no longer around. It’s all possible Jones spends some time at corner. We’ll see.
He'll be great

Good solid pick. Athletic young man.

Packers take Josh Jones, DB, NC State. Great athlete. Big hitter. Aggressive.
— Zach Kruse (@zachkruse2) April 29, 2017
I have to admit. I didn't watch a whole lot of Josh Jones tape.
— Aaron Nagler (@AaronNagler) April 29, 2017
Not many of us saw Josh Jones for #Packers. But man, that speed. 4.41-second 40. Acceleration. Quickness. That is what GB secondary needs.
— Michelle Bruton (@MichelleBruton) April 29, 2017
Josh Jones is an interesting pick. They went against their DB tendencies there for the three cone. Get the need. Awuzie was so close.
— Justis Mosqueda (#13for12) 💎🤲 (@JuMosq) April 29, 2017
Josh Jones is not a CB, but he can line up in slot, and Gutekunst said ability to cover was the big attraction. #Packers needed cover guys.
— Ryan Wood (@ByRyanWood) April 29, 2017
#Packers select safety Josh Jones from North Carolina State with the 61st pick in the NFL Draft. Another guy with speed — 4.41 seconds.
— Michael Cohen (@Michael_Cohen13) April 29, 2017
Josh Jones was my number 1 rated safety. Able to play strong or free safety. Fluid in coverage and exceptional tackler.
— Eye In The Sky (@The_Green_Gold) April 29, 2017
All in all, the reviews are good.
