4. Will the young guns put Cobb out to pasture?

It’s safe to consider the Packers’ offense pretty loaded at the wide receiver position given their tremendous depth once you get the passed the top three options of Jordy Nelson, Davante Adams and Randall Cobb.

Second-year men Geronimo Allison and Trevor Davis are both primed to take on larger roles this season.

Allison, in particular, has showcased the ability to use his long strides to get open on deep routes and fight off receivers at his catch point.

Rookie Malachi Dupre, on the other hand, hasn’t wasted any time acclimating himself by consistently beating one-on-one coverage and coming down with over-the-shoulder throws.

Fourth-round pick DeAngelo Yancey has bounced back from his bout with dropped passes in recent days by beating man coverage on out and go routes.

But both Dupre and Yancey have thus far been outperformed by Max McCaffrey, who has consistently been getting open, as well as earning the distinction of being the most surehanded pass catcher this summer.

Former basketball player Michael Clark may be as raw as fresh lemongrass, but the undrafted free agent gets credit for knowing how to use his massive 6-foot-6 frame to his advantage.

And then there’s Jeff Janis, who looks to be the odd-man out despite his efforts on special teams.

Where does this leave Cobb, who has struggled with injuries over the past two seasons?

My guess is he sticks around in 2017 given the collective inexperience of the others behind him.

Stay tuned.
