Nick Perry is a Green Bay Packer whose expectations when drafted four years ago were sky high.

He’s an active outside linebacker who was brought to Green Bay to be a bookend to Clay Matthews.

The two of them together were to become the terrors of the North.

Instead, both of them have disappointed because of injuries over the past few seasons, most especially Nick Perry.

It started over once again this past weekend at Denver when Perry left the game with an apparent ankle injury.

Though the extent of the injury isn’t known yet because teams seem to keep injuries during training camp a secret, it could be significant.

The Packers not only lost Nick Perry to injury, but also appear to have concerns about fellow OLB Jayrone Elliott, who left Saturday night’s game with a back injury.

Coupled with the fact that the Packers were the first team to express interest in 33-year-old Ahmad Brooks, it appears Green Bay is doing what it can, as fast as they can, to address the situation.

Perry, who is fresh off the lucrative five-year free agent signing he inked this past March, is seemingly in his most comfortable spot – the trainer’s room.

Many questioned the re-signing by the Packers of Perry because of his injury history. That didn’t seem to bother Packers GM Ted Thompson, who signed the linebacker anyway.

Should he have used those resources to re-sign guard T.J. Lang or offensive lineman J.C. Tretter? Or should he have brought in a linebacker without the injury history that Perry brings to the table?

Those questions are now moot. Perry is a Packer for the immediate future and injuries are not a thing of the past.

At this point, we don’t have an indication as to when Perry will be back. That news should break within the next couple of days.

But one thing is for certain … Nick Perry’s injuries aren’t going to go away. He’s as brittle as always.

Will the visit and potential signing of Brooks be a wise move?

If the Packers sign Brooks, he would be a rotational player who could bring the type of impact that former Packer Julius Peppers brought in his final couple of seasons with the Packers.

Brooks could bring a sense of stability to the position – and the skillset to help the Packers.

But what to do about Nick Perry?

At this point, all we can do is be patient and hope he heals quickly and stays on the field in 2017.
