2. Aaron Jones over Jamaal Williams

(Ty) Montgomery was on his way to another strong effort until he fell victim to contact to the chest area that reportedly fractured his ribs.

Williams was next in line to step in for the feature back, but managed only 11 yards on 4 carries before he went down with down with an injury of his own early in the second quarter.

(Mike) McCarthy had no other choice but to hand the keys of his backfield to Jones, who made the most of his opportunity by showcasing his shiftiness and vision in gaining tough yards in tight quarters.

The UTEP product scored his first NFL touchdown shortly thereafter by jump cutting to daylight on a 2-yard score to put the Packers up 21-0.

Jones continued showcasing his intriguing cocktail of skills in the second half with a series of inside and outside runs that saw him maximize his yardage behind a ragtag offensive line.

The rookie back totaled 49 yards on 13 totes and outshined Williams, who seemed to lack his teammate’s quick burst and elusiveness.

While more will come out on Williams’ injury, it would be safe to assume that Jones will be the team’s primary ball carrier with Montgomery recovering from his rib ailment.

Packer backers can look forward to Jones’ ability to split out wide and run a wide array of routes in future games.

The offense looks to be in good hands with No. 33.
