It’s official. The Green Bay Packers are cleaning house.

According to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky, offensive coordinator Edgar Bennett and quarterbacks coach Alex Van Pelt have been fired.

Quite the shakeup is taking place at 1265 Lombardi Ave.

Head coach Mike McCarthy has already moved on from defensive coordinator Dom Capers, inside linebackers coach Scott McCurley and defensive line coach Mike Trgovac. Packers president Mark Murphy also decided to replace Ted Thompson as general manager.

Now changes are being made on offense.

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported that Bennett could take on another role, although Demovsky wrote that this is “not expected”.

We haven’t seen such dramatic changes in Green Bay for some time.

McCarthy, who is fiercely loyal to his assistant coaches, doesn’t often make wholesale changes to the staff. But Aaron Rodgers’ injury exposed a number of issues with the team, some of which aren’t new problems, and McCarthy is making some bold moves.

As the search for a new defensive coordinator continues, a few candidates have potentially emerged for the offensive coordinator vacancy.

According to Demovsky, Joe Philbin, Ben McAdoo and James Campen could be in consideration.

Campen is the team’s current offensive line coach. Philbin and McAdoo have history in Green Bay.

Philbin held a number of coaching positions for the Packers, most recently the offensive coordinator job from 2007-2011. While it didn’t work out for him as head coach in Miami, Philbin would be a good candidate to return to McCarthy’s staff.

McAdoo was the Packers’ tight ends coach from 2006, before moving on to the quarterbacks in 2012. He left Green Bay in 2013 to become offensive coordinator for the Giants, and took over as the team’s head coach in 2016.

After an awful 2017 season, McAdoo was fired. Would he the right man to take over as the offensive coordinator? Aaron Rodgers was a big fan of his.

It’s been a busy week in Green Bay. Will there be any more coaching changes?
