Packers: Senior Bowl prospects that Green Bay should target in draft
Marcus Allen, S, Penn State
The Packers will have a pending need at the safety position if they choose not to re-sign Morgan Burnett, and even if Josh Jones is ready to step into his spot they would still be wise to add another safety at their roster.
For anyone that watched Penn State play this year, their offense stole the show, but that doesn’t mean Allen wouldn’t be a good pickup for the Packers.
Charlie Campbell of WalterFootball projects Allen to go in the fourth to sixth round. This could benefit the Packers as they could address more important needs early in the draft such as corner, wide receiver or tight end and still pick up a solid player in the secondary later on.
In my opinion they should sign a cheaper veteran safety if they don’t bring back Burnett, and if they do this it would still make sense to draft Allen if he fell to the later rounds.
Marwin Evans and Kentrell Brice have been with the Packers for a while now but I doubt that they will get much better than they already are.

Allen has the potential to be an upgrade over both of those guys and wouldn’t cost a high draft pick.
