Ted Thompson will continue to work closely with new Green Bay Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst in his new role.

Good morning and welcome to the Packers News Report.

Super Bowl week is here. You have permission not to be excited. I’m ready for the football season to end so we can just get to free agency and the draft.

After all, this is the first time in a while Packers fans have had a reason to be excited about free agency. But how aggressive will new general manager Brian Gutekunst be? Time will tell.

And while the NFL world focuses on the Patriots and Eagles, we can continue to focus on the Packers’ busy offseason here at Lombardi Ave. It may be disappointing not to be in the Super Bowl this year, but at least we’re not Vikings fans. The Super Bowl takes place in their hometown featuring the team that beat them just two weeks ago.

Let’s dive into Monday’s Packers News Report.

Should Brian Gutekunst re-sign Richard Rodgers? If he does, it would be to a short-term, low-risk contract. But considering Rodgers’ struggles to produce as a receiver, the team might be better off finding a replacement to pair with Lance Kendricks.
