Packers: 5 first-round options in 2018 NFL Draft
Tremaine Edmunds, LB, Virgina Tech
Various mock drafts around the internet see Tremaine Edmunds coming off the board in the top-10 of April’s draft, but if he falls to No. 14 the Packers could be getting a steal.
Lombardi Ave’s Dan Dahlke believes it’s possible he drops to Green Bay. He has the Packers selecting Edmunds in his latest seven-round mock draft.
"“As a linebacker, Edmunds is a rare athlete with size and sideline-to-sideline speed. His impressive range and explosiveness allows him to make plays all over the field. He’s registered 10 sacks and a whopping 32.5 tackles for loss as a two-year starter, as well as 215 tackles, four forced fumbles, 13 hurries, and five pass breakups.”"
Sound good? I think so.
Edmunds could quickly become one of the Packers’ top defenders. Pair him with Blake Martinez, who just finished an excellent second season, and the team’s issues at linebacker could become a thing of the past.
Daniel Jeremiah has Edmunds as his third-best prospect entering this year’s draft. If he somehow fell to No. 14, Brian Gutekunst should run up to the podium himself and announce the selection.
Don’t be surprised if the Virginia Tech linebacker doesn’t make it outside of the top-10, but he’s a player the Packers should have a ton of interest in drafting if he slides.
