Ahead of free agency, here are five players the Green Bay Packers must re-sign.

With free agency approaching, there is a lot of talk about who the Green Bay Packers should sign.

Today though, we’re looking at the five players already on the team that should be re-signed.

5. Jahri Evans, T

The Packers O-Line allowed 51 sacks in 2017. That was the fourth-most in the league. Despite that stat Jahri Evans was a solid member of the line. He did miss the last two games of the 2017 season because of a knee injury.

According to CBS Sports, Evans is considering retirement. If he does play in 2018, he will be 35 years old but still has the potential to play at a high level.

4. Ahmad Brooks, LB

Another aging player, Ahmad Brooks only recorded 1.5 sacks and 19 tackles in the 12 games he played last season.

This was the first time since 2009 that Brooks recorded less then five sacks in a season. Now that Green Bay has a new defensive coordinator, maybe Brooks can have a renaissance of sorts in his career.  He is defiantly worth another year.

3. Richard Rodgers, TE

Yeah I know Richard Rodgers only caught one touchdown last year. But in all the Packers’ attempts to bring in the next great tight (Jared Cook, Martellus Bennett) Rodgers has outlasted them all.

He had that killer year in 2015 where he posted 510 yards and eight touchdowns, and that awesome Hail Mary in Detroit. He has good chemistry with QB Aaron Rodgers and has come through when called on. With Rodgers back healthy and a new offensive coordinator in town, Rodgers could be an important weapon in the Packers’ passing attack.

He even gave up his number to James Jones when he came back, what a great guy!

2. Davon House, CB

Like Brooks, Davon House had a somewhat disappointing season. He only had one interception, 37 tackles and one sack. But again, like Brooks, he is in a position to have an up year in Mike Pettine’s defense. Depending on what Green Bay does in the draft, there may or may not be a place for House on this team, but he brings skill and veteran leadership that they really need.

1. Morgan Burnett, S

This one is a no-brainier. Burnett is one of the longest-serving Packers still on the roster. He is the leader on defense (he calls the defensive plays on the field).

Burnett is one of the few players left from the Super Bowl XLV team along with Aaron Rodgers, Bryan Bulaga, Jordy Nelson, Clay Matthews and Mason Crosby.

While he is not a really great player, he has been one of the more consistent safeties in the league. The Packers would benefit from keeping him, as he provides great leadership skills along with his physical ones. Ha Ha Clinton-Dix and Josh Jones are the future of the position, but Burnett has a lot left to give.
