The Green Bay Packers reportedly have interest in signing free agent tight end Jimmy Graham.

The Packers need to find an upgrade at tight end this offseason, and general manager Brian Gutekunst might believe Jimmy Graham is the answer.

Graham, who is set to hit free agency when the new league year begins on Wednesday at 3 p.m. CT, has drawn interest from a number of teams.

According to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, the Packers are among them.

For now, I wouldn’t consider the Packers favorites to sign Graham. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Monday that there is “strong interest” from the Saints to bring Graham back to New Orleans.

But what could Graham bring to Green Bay?

First of all, he is an excellent red zone target. Graham has four seasons with double-digit touchdowns, including last year in Seattle when he found the end zone 10 times. Graham caught 26 touchdowns during his final two seasons in New Orleans with Drew Brees at quarterback. It wouldn’t be a surprise if he found similar success with Aaron Rodgers.

Graham’s price tag might be too high for Gutekunst’s liking, as well as the fact he turns 32 this year.

Gutekunst made clear he wants to be involved in just about every conversation in free agency. So far he’s making good on that promise. Green Bay has already hosted free agent defensive lineman Muhammad Wilkerson for a visit, and the Packers were also one of the teams reportedly interested in signing cornerback Richard Sherman.

Do you think Graham would be a good fit in Green Bay’s offense? If he does sign — which at this stage, in my opinion, remains a long shot — what would it mean for free-agent-to-be Richard Rodgers?
