Ahmad Brooks, Outside Linebacker

The Packers signed the longtime 49er just before the start of the 2017 season. It came as an unexpected surprise. The Packers needed depth at the linebacker position badly.

Ahmad Brooks didn’t really do much for the Packers, however. Then again, he didn’t really get the opportunity to do much either.

Most of the time he played when Nick Perry and Clay Matthews weren’t on the field.

He was clearly a shell of himself, but what did you expect from the aging veteran who was clearly past his prime?

Overall, Brooks did what he was signed for. He was here to help add depth to a weak position. He contributed when he had to.

It’s highly likely the Packers address outside linebacker in this year’s draft. The combination of adding new talent and a contract that is too high for what Brooks would be able to contribute makes it highly unlikely he returns to Green Bay for 2018.

Verdict: Let him walk

Quinton Dial, Defensive Tackle

Another former San Francisco 49er, Quinton Dial was signed before the start of the 2017 season.  Like Brooks, this signing came as a surprise.

However, this move likely doesn’t happen if rookie Montravius Adams stays healthy.

While Dial did record two starts for the Packers in 2018, he didn’t do a whole lot in terms of production.

With the signing of former Jets defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson, and the return of Adams, it is highly unlikely there is a spot for Dial.

Verdict: Let him walk
