Charles Woodson is the second greatest free agent signing in Green Bay Packers history.

Charles Woodson is arguably the best cornerback in Green Bay Packers history.

Woodson will always be known for his unique abilities. He’s a legend in Green Bay, and will always be welcome to the best hospitality in Packer land.

Woodson racked up nine Pro Bowl appearances and eight All-Pro honors. He was also the NFL’s interception leader twice (2009, 2011). Young cornerbacks should take notes.

Here’s why we decided to put Woodson at No. 2 on the top five list of the greatest free agents in Packers history.

2. Charles Woodson, DB

Drafted by Oakland

Woodson was drafted in 1998 by the Oakland Raiders, and for the first eight years of his career he played at an elite level. Probably the most notable moment in Woodson’s tenure in Oakland was when he thought he secured a game-winning sack against Tom Brady in a 2002 playoff match.

The play was overturned which created controversy, rightfully so, and has been dubbed the “Tuck Rule Game” by fans and critics.

For the first four years in Oakland, Woodson made the Pro Bowl four times and recorded 27 interceptions in his entire career there, including after he returned in 2013. Like so many other free agents that have come to Green Bay, he wanted to win a Super Bowl. Woodson would go on to sign with the Green Bay Packers in 2006.

Heading to Green Bay

At first Woodson didn’t want to come to Green Bay and had a chip on his shoulder his way there. Since the Packers were the only team offering, Woodson had no choice. He eventually found his way with the Packers and would go on a historic run that no one would forget.

Woodson would make the Pro Bowl four times, including two first-team All-Pro and second-team honors. He would also rack up 38 interceptions and 11.5 sacks with the Packers.

Woodson will never be forgotten, and will go down as one of the best of all-time.
