Week 16: at New York Jets

Coming into the month of May, the New York Jets had five quarterbacks on their roster. The Jets hope they have one for the future with the number three overall pick in the NFL draft, Sam Darnold.

They recently released Bryce Petty to get down to four quarterbacks. This leaves them with Darnold, Christian Hackenberg, Teddy Bridgewater and Josh McCown.

There’s not a definitive starter within the bunch, but you can assume that McCown will start the season. By Week 16, Darnold could very well have taken over.

Until McCown went down, the Jets were a surprising team last year given the fact their over/under was 3.5 wins. They ended the season at 5-11, but only a couple games back of the Bills before McCown’s injury.

The bad part for the Jets is they needed to mortgage a couple more years of competitiveness to draft Darnold, sending the number six overall pick plus their two second-round picks to the Colts to move up to number three.

They did, however, sign sought-after cornerback Trumaine Johnson to help with their secondary needs. Also, the Jets filled in a couple other holes with the additions of running backs Thomas Rawls and Isaiah Crowell, and wide receiver Terrelle Pryor.

The moves still won’t move the needle enough to take down the Packers during the Week 16 matchup.

Prediction: Packers 34, Jets 14 (11-4)
