Running backs

Aaron Jones – 82

Jones finished the season as a 77 overall rated player, but that feels like a significant understatement for what he was able to do as a rookie. He averaged 5.5 yards per attempt and showed tremendous quickness and burst. His play was hindered by a lack of quality play-calling, and also the emergence of fellow rookie Jamaal Williams. An 82 overall rating is a bit optimistic, but Jones deserves the increase in his speed and agility attributes that should do the trick.

Jamaal Williams – 80

The Packers are spoiled at this position with what should be two second-year players rated at 80 overall or higher. I think Williams will be rated lower than Jones because of his lower speed and agility attributes. Those things are so valuable at the running back position and I think can make the difference. Williams finished the season rated higher than Jones and I wouldn’t be surprised to see that be the case in Madden 19. I just believe Jones has shown more potential at this point in his career.

Ty Montgomery – 80

Montgomery will get a crazy boost in his rating for having great catching and route-running attributes for his position. He isn’t valued so much in the athleticism department, but he makes up for it by being a veteran that has made plays in this league for years. I really like Montgomery and think he’s the perfect complement to almost any backfield in the league. The Packers don’t have a star in this group, but the whole is greater than the sum of the parts.

Devante Mays – 65

Mays finished the season rated a 65 overall and I don’t see much of a reason for that to be changed. He wasn’t given much of a chance to play last year after fumble issues and the emergence of Jones and Williams. With a healthy Montgomery in the mix it’ll be even tougher for him to get carries and improve himself.
