David Bakhtiari is one of the most important players on the Green Bay Packers’ roster.

David Bakhtiari is arguably the best left tackle in football.

While his work may go unnoticed to casual viewers, opposing edge rushers certainly know how good he is. Twice an All-Pro and once a Pro Bowler, Bakhtiari will go down as one of Ted Thompson‘s all-time greatest draft picks.

The Packers will be hoping for more of the same from their left tackle in 2018.

2017 stats

Simply put, Bakhtiari has been dominant at left tackle. Many premier pass rushers have struggled to exit Bakhtiari Island.

But don’t take my word for it. According to Pro Football Focus, Bakhtiari allowed just 12 pressures last season, fewest of any tackle in the NFL.

Bakhtiari was ranked 33rd in Pro Football Focus’ list of the top 50 players in the NFL.

2017 review

I’m running out of superlatives to describe Bakhtiari’s performances. He might be the best pass-protecting tackle in all of football right now.

But it still feels like he’s underrated. Somehow, Bakhtiari wasn’t selected to the Pro Bowl in 2017. He was a Pro Bowler in 2016. However, the 26-year-old did receive a second-team All-Pro honor for the second straight year.

Bakhtiari deserves more recognition, but the only thing that really matters is that he’s very good at his job. When Bakhtiari is healthy, Aaron Rodgers doesn’t need to worry about the protection from his left tackle.

Odds of making roster: 100 percent

Outside of Aaron Rodgers, Bakhtiari might be the most important player on the entire roster. He plays at an elite level at a premier position, protecting a two-time MVP quarterback. For some reason I think his chances of making the roster are pretty good.

2018 preview

The key for Bakhtiari is to stay healthy. Offensive linemen are always at risk of injury due to the nature of the job, and for the most part Bakhtiari has stayed healthy.

He missed four games last season, the most of his career. Before then, he had only missed two regular season games in four years, both in 2015.

While the Packers have some uncertainty on the right side of the offensive line, they are set on the left side.

And as long as Bakhtiari is healthy, they have no concerns at left tackle, the most important position on the line.
