On the outside looking in: Devante Mays, Joel Bouagnon

It is highly unlikely, in my opinion, that the team will carry four running backs on the final 53-man roster. There is just simply too much talent ahead of Joel Bouagnon and Devante Mays. I do believe to be likely, however, that they both earn spots on the practice squad.

Mays is the most likely of the two to be called up to the roster at this point. Should there be an injury to one of the three above, I expect Green Bay to make that call. Hence, my point. At least one of these guys will be on the team’s practice squad once Week 1 rolls around.

Now, that is not to say that one of these two can’t make the final roster. They both have the talent to do so. However, they would need to seriously impress the coaches in the weeks to come. I am also a believer that Green Bay could very well decide to move one of the three running backs above for a tidy return as all three are starting quality players. That would create the roster spot needed for one of these two, probably Mays.

Reports out of OTAs and minicamp have been ones of praise for Mays. He seems to be impressing coaches thus far and if he continues to do so, could make for a very difficult decision in September.
