5. Malik Jackson (Jacksonville Jaguars)

The Jacksonville defensive line will be terrifying in 2018, and the crazy thing about it is that Malik Jackson isn’t even the best player on the line.

I was a little hesitant to believe in the Jackson signing after the 2016 season, but he will start to prove me wrong if he can continue to play like he did in 2017. He can stop an entire run game basically by himself, but he doesn’t have to given the fact that he has names like Calais Campbell and Yannick Ngakoue on his defensive line.

4. Kawann Short (Carolina Panthers)

Short is the best player on a good defense. He could be an All-Pro candidate this season. Short is one of the best pass rushers on this list.

3. Geno Atkins (Cincinnati Bengals)

Atkins is incredibly underrated and he is the best player on this lackluster Cincinnati team. He has had at least nine sacks in each of the past three seasons. The offensive lines that he has to face six times a year in the AFC North makes that fact even more impressive.

2. Fletcher Cox (Philadelphia Eagles)

Cox (and the rest of the front seven) was one of the main reasons why the Eagles won the Super Bowl last year. He is one of the most well-rounded players on this list, and that makes him one of the best defensive players in the game.

1. Aaron Donald (Los Angeles Rams)

Donald is the best defensive player in football. He is this generation’s Warren Sapp. Expect double-digit sacks this year. The addition of Ndamukong Suh will only help that possibility.
