Five Green Bay Packers to watch in preseason.

Four free agents, 11 draft choices, and a bunch of undrafted free agents later, the Green Bay Packers are nearly through with their offseason.

As the preseason kicks off this Thursday, here are five Packers to keep a close eye on.

1. Kevin King

Once again, the Packers doubled down at defensive back in the draft. After face-planting on Damarious Randall and Quinten Rollins, they turned around and scooped up Kevin King and Josh Jones in 2017. Now, the two rookie corners are Jaire Alexander and Josh Jackson.

While the more intense draft investment was made in Alexander, King needs to be at the forefront of new defensive coordinator Mike Pettine’s plans heading into 2018. He is listed as the starter alongside Tramon Williams on the first team depth chart.

King was placed on injured reserve with a season-ending shoulder injury after playing in nine games and failing to record an interception.

While King’s rookie season didn’t look particularly stunning, he was effective defending the run and finally provided a needed dose of height into the secondary as he stands tall at six-foot-three. As he heads into his sophomore campaign, the Packers need to see what improvements King has made while hoping to have finally hit on a high pick at cornerback.
