3. Big game for Quinten Rollins

It was a night to forget for Quinten Rollins at Lambeau last Thursday. The former second-round pick was beaten by Nick Williams for a 38-yard gain on the Titans’ opening drive which resulted in a touchdown.

Later in the first quarter, Rollins fumbled on a punt return. While he was able to recover the ball, it still resulted in a 12-yard loss. For Rollins to make the roster, one has to imagine his play on special teams will be an important reason. Moments like the fumble last week won’t help.

It’s now important for Rollins to forget about that game and bounce back against the Steelers. It’s worth noting he is coming back from a torn Achilles, which is about as bad an injury imaginable for a cornerback.

But as Peter Bukowski of Acme Packing Company pointed out before the preseason opener, Rollins had been inconsistent before suffering a season-ending injury last year:

"“Even before those injuries, Rollins failed to consistently show he had the athleticism needed to play cornerback in the NFL, struggling to run with tight ends at times, never mind receivers.”"

This is an important game for Rollins. The Packers have made a number of moves at cornerback this offseason, and he’ll need to play well in the coming weeks to earn a spot on the 53-man roster.
