The horrible news struck the Packers’ headlines when LB Jake Ryan went down during training camp. The verdict of a season-ending ACL injury was fear in the back of everyone’s mind. Ryan’s stats in 2017 were the second best in the NFL on stopping the run, only behind Luke Kuechly, according to Pro Football Focus.

A player that important is hard to lose for any team, but fortunately for the Packers their linebacker corps has plenty of depth.

Oren Burks, the Packers’ third-round pick, has already made a name for himself so far during the preseason. Last week Reggie Gilbert had a spotlight beaming all over him against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Gilbert accumulated 2.5 sacks during his time on the field, making his presence known to the Steelers’ quarterback at all times.

Oakland’s offensive line, along with Packers fans, need to keep a watchful eye on Gilbert to see if he can repeat the same type of effort in the next game. Can Gilbert continue his same tempo, along with the young Burks and experienced Blake Martinez?

The depth continues to grow with Kyler Fackrell returning from an injury this season, along with OLB Nick Perry and Clay Matthews. Tremendous names provide a long list of linebackers, which can nourish a tasty treat for Green Bay fans this year.
