Week 8, at Rams: Loss

We skip ahead to Week 8 since the Packers have a bye in Week 7. Having a bye week in the middle of the season is great timing to allow any injured players to return and allowing a breath of fresh air. A break is exactly what the Packers will need right before the stretch of tough games that are ahead.

The Rams are one of the favorites to win the Super Bowl this year for several reasons. On paper, their roster looks like the best in the NFL. Their young head coach Sean McVay has made incredible progress with young stars Jared Goff and Todd Gurley. Adding Brandin Cooks to the offense makes things more difficult for opposing teams.

Aaron Donald is a major threat to every offensive line in the league. The Rams seemed to agree by signing Donald to a mega-contract deal — essentially the kind of payment that Khalil Mack was waiting for in Oakland. Los Angeles also traded for veteran Aqib Talib to help out in the secondary, making Wade Philips’ entire defense seem without any weakness.

Despite the Packers’ great start to the season, they were bound to lose eventually. Green Bay is playing against the odds while away at the LA Memorial Coliseum. It will be an ugly game to watch after a series of wins from strong opponents. The silver lining that comes from a loss is being able to address any weaknesses that have been exposed.
