Week 9, at Patriots: Loss

It’s hard to say Tom Brady‘s name without attaching all his accomplishments along with it. Brady is proving to be the enigma of the NFL. Like a fine wine, the older Brady gets, the better he seems to play. Players and fans might have scoffed when last year’s MVP announced he wanted to play until he was 45 years old. But if there would be one player who could actually make it that far in his career, it would be Brady.

Probably the most anticipated game of the season, there’s a reason why it’s being broadcast on Sunday Night Football. Some may dub it the GOAT game, where both fan bases will debate on who really is the greatest of all time. Arguments on whether rings or stats will flare all week, which proves the reality that history is doomed to repeat itself. Didn’t we have this argument already between Joe Montana and Dan Marino?

The game will be intense, and most likely come down to the wire. Green Bay will no doubt be able to score consistently, as the Patriots’ defense was ranked 29th overall last year. Despite their weakness, the Patriots will manage to scrape by for a few reasons:

  • Bill Belichick is the only active head coach with more wins than Mike McCarthy
  • Tom Brady plays better when backed into a corner
  • The game is held at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough
  • Aaron Rodgers statistically doesn’t perform well on Sunday Night Football

The last one is really the main killer. Rodgers might be knocked down by this Clash of the Titans battle, but if these two teams were to meet in a Super Bowl one year the results might favor the Packers.
