3. Aaron Rodgers is still the best quarterback in football

Just when you thought you’d seen it all with Aaron Rodgers. Sunday night will go down as one of his all-time great performances.

We’ve seen Rodgers convert Hail Mary passes time and again, even when he’s falling down while making the throw. We’ve seen him extend plays and make impossible throws on the move. We’ve even seen him hop around on one leg and still march up and down the field.

But this performance was something special. Perhaps even more so than the “Miracle in Motown”.

Rodgers could barely put any weight on his leg at one stage, and he was clearly limited after returning to the game. To any other quarterback, it would make throwing a single touchdown difficult. Rodgers threw three, and guided the Packers from 20-0 down to an incredible 24-23 victory.

It’s only Week 1, so we don’t yet know how important this win will turn out to be. But it was a home game against a division rival. You need to win those. Particularly with the NFC North-champion Vikings visiting Lambeau next week.

The question now is where this game will rank among Rodgers’ best? When his career is done, we’ll talk about the Hail Marys. The Super Bowl victory. The two (for now) league MVP awards.
