5. Jaire Alexander

With 1:37 left in the game, it looked as if Jaire Alexander put the dagger in the hearts of the Vikings. Cousins went deep to Diggs, but pressure caused the pass to miss its mark. Alexander tracked the ball and made a difficult over-the-shoulder catch. But it was all for nothing.

An extremely questionable roughing the passer call on Clay Matthews voided the rookie’s first career interception.

We know what happened from there.

Alexander had tight coverage all game long. Yes, he gave up a few completions, but when he did, he was there to make the tackle. There was not a pass that appeared to be a blown coverage on the rookie.

Alexander also assisted in the run game, making tackles at or near the line of scrimmage. He made good, strong tackles in the screen game and is showing few holes in his game.

Safety Kentrell Brice didn’t make a play on the final touchdown to Adam Thielen. But Alexander was there on the coverage, but just couldn’t make the play. There will be ups and downs for Alexander in this his rookie year. But he is showing the makings of a good player and may have to be relied upon more in the coming weeks should Kevin King’s groin injury linger.
