This will be another tough test for Mike McCarthy’s team. Washington enters this game at 1-1, but has the league’s top-ranked defense after two games.
Of course, it’s only Week 3 and they have played the struggling Arizona Cardinals, which helps, but Washington has a lot of talent on defense.
And the Packers know all too well how good they can be on offense.
Back in 2016, the last meeting between these two teams, Washington dominated Green Bay with a 42-24 victory.
While they are now without Kirk Cousins (Vikings), Pierre Garcon (49ers), DeSean Jackson (Buccaneers) and Rob Kelley (on injured reserve), who all starred that day, Washington still has plenty of talent on offense.
Jamison Crowder caught three passes for 102 yards and a touchdown against the Packers two years ago. Jordan Reed had five catches for 79 yards.
Chris Thompson will be one of the biggest concerns for Packers defensive coordinator Mike Pettine. Thompson has carried nine times for 66 yards this season (7.3 yards per carry), but his best work comes as a receiver. Thompson leads the team with 19 receptions for a team-high 155 yards and a touchdown after two weeks.
This won’t be an easy game for the Packers. But after performing well against the Vikings at home last week, even on the road this is a game they should be able to win.
