Tight ends: C

It was another week where Green Bay’s tight end crew had quiet performances. Other than Jimmy Graham, who was on the field for 64 of the 69 snaps, Marcedes Lewis and Lance Kendricks saw limited action as they combined to see the field for just 17 plays.

Graham was able to bring in five catches on seven attempts for 45 yards. Once again he was limited because of the lack of plays ran by Green Bay in the red zone, the part of the field where Graham is at his best. Defenses have also been doing a nice job of double teaming Graham and chipping him on the line of scrimmage to delay his routes.

Lewis continues to be used very rarely and when he does see the field, he is just in as a run blocker. Lewis has only one reception on the year so far.

Lance Kendricks saw only 10 snaps, but even in his limited time on the field he made his mark on the game. Unfortunately, it wasn’t a positive one. On a critical third down that could have helped build momentum, Kendricks dropped a wide open pass. This led to a Green Bay punt and all but sealed the Packers’ fate.

Up to this point in the season, the tight ends have had small impacts overall. Coaching needs to put them in better positions to be successful. Graham is a pass-catching tight end, he doesn’t need to lined up as a run blocker as much as he has been.

Lewis needs to see the field more as a run blocker, a strength in his game. Kendricks needs to not see the field at all, he has a history of dropping passes and is a poor run blocker.
