8. New England Patriots (1-2)

It’s not often the New England Patriots lose two in a row. New England’s defense had no answer for Detroit’s offensive line, sacking Matthew Stafford just once while allowing 159 yards on the ground. The Lions had more rushing yards than Tom Brady did passing yards (133). New England faces a big matchup with Miami in Week 4.

7. Minnesota Vikings (1-1-1)

Were the Minnesota Vikings already looking ahead to a Thursday night meeting with the Rams? It sure looked like it. Their 27-6 loss at home to Buffalo was a huge upset. The Vikings have just four days to get back on track against the red-hot Rams, before heading to Philadelphia in Week 5. Two huge games for the Vikings.

6. Carolina Panthers (2-1)

With so many teams above them losing in Week 3, the Carolina Panthers move up seven spots in these rankings. There’s a lot to like about Carolina’s offense. Christian McCaffrey is on pace for 1,445 rushing yards and 837 receiving yards. The Panthers offense will be tough to stop this year. They enter their early bye week at 2-1.

5. New Orleans Saints (2-1)

Michael Thomas and Alvin Kamara were once again impossible to slow down, and Drew Brees even had two rushing touchdowns to go with three through the air. There are some question marks over New Orleans’ defense, but this offense looks great.
