1. Bad day for Mason Crosby

Mason Crosby has been about as consistent as any kicker in the league for a number of years, but this will go down as one of the worst performances in his career. Crosby missed four field goals and an extra point try.

As a result, the Packers began the third quarter down 24-0, when they could’ve had nine points on the board.

The Packers then went for it on fourth-and-11, which they converted. Mike McCarthy opted to go for it instead of attempting a 56-yard field goal.

Then after Marquez Valdes-Scantling caught a touchdown, the Packers went for two, and were successful.

It could have been due to the score. The Packers were down big, and a two-point try helped them make it a two-score game. But Crosby’s poor first half performance couldn’t have given McCarthy any confidence to attempt the kick.

Crosby did convert a 41-yard field goal on Green Bay’s final drive, pulling the team back within eight points. The Packers were unable to recover the onside kick that followed.

The hope is Crosby’s successful kick at the end of the game will get him back on track. The Packers won’t give up on Crosby after one bad performance, which is the right move.

But he’ll need to quickly get back on track ahead of next week’s game against San Francisco.
