Packers: Five players to watch vs. 49ers in Week 6
By Jesse Fry
4. Lane Taylor
DeForest Buckner is playing the best he has so far in his young career. Buckner will be lined up across from Lane Taylor most of the game and is San Fran’s best chance to disrupt Rodgers and the Packers offense.
Taylor and the left side of the line have been solid so far. They’ve needed to keep up good protection for Rodgers, who has been hobbled, and this week is no different. Buckner is a former first-round pick that seems to have found his groove.
Buckner usually lines up on the defensive right, the offensive left. That means Taylor will be the one to face Buckner often, though he could rotate to the other side and face Byron Bell. Bell has played well in place of McCray and may be wrestling away the starting position.
McCray stated he will need surgery at the end of the season and a healthy Bell might be the better option at this point.
Taylor will need to continue his solid play Monday night. Outside of Buckner, the 49ers have two other top 10 draft picks on the defensive line. For the 49ers to stand a chance they will need to pressure Rodgers up the middle.
