Mike McCarthy turns to Aaron Jones, and all of a sudden the Green Bay Packers win big.

Jones was outstanding in the Packers‘ 31-12 victory over the Miami Dolphins, rushing 15 times for 145 yards and two touchdowns. When he’s on the field, good things happen for the Packers offense.

This was a game Green Bay had to win. Back at home in the middle of a tough five-game stretch with four games away from Lambeau Field, the Packers desperately needed a victory to get back on track.

It wasn’t a perfect performance. Special teams errors were once again a headline. But it was good enough.

The offense looked better. Again, there is still work to do, but the Packers put up four touchdowns and scored on all four red zone trips. Jones and Davante Adams had two touchdowns each.

Mike Pettine’s defense continued to impress, posting six sacks, recovering a fumble and making an interception, all while limiting Miami’s offense to just 12 points.

This victory means the Packers improve to 4-4-1 on the season with a tough test coming in just four days time at Seattle. This was their final home game until December, with two more road trips up next against the Seahawks and Vikings.

Mike McCarthy’s team needs to figure things out away from Lambeau. Green Bay is now 4-0-1 at home, but 0-4 on the road.

Green Bay was given some help from around the NFL. Cleveland defeated Atlanta, while Seattle lost to the LA Rams. This improves the Packers’ chances of securing a wild-card berth.

But the Chicago Bears defeated the Detroit Lions at Soldier Field, improving to 6-3 and remaining in first place of the NFC North.

Green Bay can’t get too focused on other teams, though. This victory was a start, but a lot of work still needs to be done to build on this and remain in the playoff race.

The attention quickly turns to Thursday night and a tough road game against the Seattle Seahawks.
