Packers: Davante Adams inactive vs. Lions in Week 17
Davante Adams won’t have the opportunity to set a couple of franchise records in Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions. He is inactive for the Green Bay Packers’ season finale.
Davante Adams just needed one catch to tie Sterling Sharpe‘s franchise record for receptions in a single season. He was also just 134 yards away from breaking Jordy Nelson‘s franchise record for most receiving yards in a single season.
But Adams has been on the Packers’ injury report all week with a knee injury and was unable to practice. Despite being listed as questionable, Adams is officially inactive, the team announced.
While Adams will miss out on a couple of franchise records, it has still been the best season of his career. He finishes the year with 1,386 yards and 13 touchdowns, both career-highs. It’s the first time he’s hit the 1,000-yard mark in a season, and the third consecutive year he’s posted double-digit touchdowns.

The Packers will also be without cornerback Jaire Alexander, wide receiver Equanimeous St. Brown and tackle Jason Spriggs against the Lions, but Aaron Rodgers will play, despite the team being eliminated from playoff contention.
Like Green Bay, the Lions will be without their top wide receiver this season. Kenny Golladay is officially inactive.

Without Adams, there will be more opportunities for young receivers Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Jake Kumerow to get playing time with Rodgers. It could also lead to more carries for Jamaal Williams.
A win for Green Bay would be its second in a row, the first time the team has put together consecutive victories all season. It would be a positive finish to an otherwise disappointing season.
Ahead of one of the most important offseasons for the Green Bay Packers in a number of years, they take on the Lions at Lambeau Field. But to win, the offense will need to play well without its best wide receiver.
