Green Bay Packers 2019 preseason schedule announced
The Green Bay Packers have announced the schedule for their four 2019 preseason games.
The Green Bay Packers announced their full preseason schedule on Tuesday.
According to the Packers’ official website, they will open and close preseason with games at Lambeau Field, meeting the Houston Texans and Kansas City Chiefs at home, with games against the Baltimore Ravens and Oakland Raiders in between.
Here is the full preseason schedule:
August 8-12: vs. Houston Texans
August 15-19: at Baltimore Ravens
August 22-25: vs. Oakland Raiders (location not yet announced)
August 29: vs. Kansas City Chiefs
According to Michael Cohen of The Athletic, the Packers will host the Texans for joint training camp practices ahead of their preseason opener. Already we’re seeing the differences between Matt LaFleur and Mike McCarthy. It’s also beneficial to close out preseason at home.
This preseason will come with more interest than usual for Packers fans. Of course, it’s still preseason, which means we’ll see a lot of game time for backups and players on the edge of the 53-man roster, but this will be the first opportunity to see the new-look team led by head coach Matt LaFleur.
It’s safe to assume LaFleur will keep things simple and save many of the new elements of the offense for the season opener against the Chicago Bears.
Most years, the regular season schedule follows the preseason schedule a week later. The list of preseason games has been announced at about the same time as last year, so expect an announcement soon on when the full schedule for the regular season will be announced.
But while we wait for the dates of the 16 regular season games, we do know the opponents the Green Bay Packers will face in the 2019 season.
What are your thoughts on the team’s decision to host joint practices with the Texans?
