Aaron Rodgers, DeShone Kizer

Despite reported interest in drafting Drew Lock, the Packers didn’t use any of their eight selections on a quarterback. Unless the Packers sign a veteran this summer, I see DeShone Kizer winning the backup job for the second year in a row.

As ever, it’s clear the Packers can’t afford to lose Rodgers for many, if any, games. If Rodgers is on the field, Green Bay always has a chance to win. Without him, the team will be relying on the defense to get the job done.

Perhaps the biggest question at this point is how Rodgers adjusts to a new offense for the first time in his NFL career. Matt LaFleur is bringing a new-look offense to Green Bay, and how quickly the players pick it up will determine how successful this group is in LaFleur’s debut season as head coach. With five of the team’s first seven games being played at Lambeau Field, starting fast will be key.

If Rodgers puts together a 2011 or 2014 season, the Packers will be serious contenders as the rest of the roster is more than strong enough after a good offseason. If we see MVP Rodgers, the Packers will compete for a Super Bowl.
