10. Philip Rivers (Los Angeles Rams): Rivers has consistently been one of the league’s most underrated quarterbacks, but the Chargers finally put enough talent around Rivers to get back to the playoffs last season, thus giving him the postseason attention he has long sought.

Don’t be surprised if Rivers (and the Chargers) have a similar performance again this season.

9. Ben Roethlisberger (Pittsburgh Steelers): Roethlisberger may face some challenges without the likes of Antonio Brown this season, but he has already shown that he is more than dominant without an arguably better talent in Le’Veon Bell for a full season. Frankly, I think the Steelers will benefit from this lack of drama in 2019.

8. Matthew Stafford (Detroit Lions): The Lions were one of the league’s worst franchises before Matthew Stafford came along and they would be in a similar boat if they were to lose Stafford.

Stafford (a longtime underrated quarterback) has almost always at least made the Lions threats in the NFC North and his overall throwing ability is on par with (if not better than) any quarterback.

7. Drew Brees (New Orleans Saints): Brees is one of the greatest quarterbacks in football history, but I am skeptical of his long-term prospects. If he continues to play to his immense talents, the Saints will likely be Super Bowl contenders, but if not, things could get troubling.

6. Deshaun Watson (Houston Texans): Watson is one of the best all-around quarterback talents in the game and he carried an average Texans roster to the playoffs last season despite being behind arguably the league’s worst offensive line last season.

If Watson continues to build on his potential, there is a good chance that he garners MVP discussion this season.
