5. Safety

The fact safety is ranked so high on this list shows what a great job Gutekunst has done at addressing positions of need this offseason. The Packers needed to make big changes at the position to replace Ha Ha Clinton-Dix and Kentrell Brice, and Gutekunst viewed it as a priority in the offseason.

Green Bay’s defense will now feature two new starters at the position. Former Chicago Bear Adrian Amos is an immediate upgrade, he has NFL experience but is still only 26 years old. And he’ll be starting alongside a first-round pick and potential difference-maker in the secondary for the Packers, Darnell Savage Jr.

If Amos and Savage avoid injury, a position of weakness last season will quickly become a strength in the Packers defense in just one season.

Josh Jonesfuture is uncertain, but the Packers have good depth at the position with Raven Greene and Tramon Williams able to cover if needed.

With Amos and Savage, Green Bay could have its best starting safety duo in many years, and they will make a difference in what should be a much-improved Packers defense this season.

The only question now at training camp is whether Jones stays in Green Bay or is traded.
