Is Aaron Rodgers one of the top-10 quarterbacks of all time?

If Aaron Rodgers retired today, he’d go down as one of the greatest QBs of all time, but he still has plenty of time to build on an already Hall of Fame level career.

Elliot Harrison of NFL.com recently ranked the top 25 quarterbacks in NFL history, and three Green Bay Packers QBs made the list.

Rodgers leads the way at No. 10, with Brett Favre at No. 12 and Bart Starr at No. 13.

Rodgers is among the greatest passers to ever play the game, that much is clear, but as Harrison points out, he only has one Super Bowl ring to show for it. If the two-time MVP can add a second or third championship win to his name before he retires, Rodgers will undoubtedly move up the all-time rankings and be up there close to Tom Brady, who is deservedly in first place.

Interestingly, two current NFL starters are ahead of Rodgers in the rankings. Brady? Absolutely. No complaints here. Brady is the easy choice at No. 1, and his success may never be replicated.

The other is Drew Brees, which can certainly be debated. Make no mistake, Brees has put together an incredible career and deserves to be near the top of the rankings. But he’s at No. 6, four positions ahead of Rodgers.

While he holds multiple NFL records, in terms of team success, both Brees and Rodgers are similar. Both players have won a Super Bowl, played in one, and won the Super Bowl MVP award. One thing Brees hasn’t done is win the NFL MVP award, which Rodgers has won twice.

Forget about age. If you could pick one QB in their prime to lead your franchise, would you choose Rodgers or Brees? I’d personally take Rodgers, but it’s very close. Rodgers can do it all — make any throw, inside or outside of the pocket, he can run, and he’s at his best in key moments.

Overall, it’s hard to disagree too much with Harrison’s rankings, and he makes a great case for his selections.
